Well here we are in Uluru (Ayers Rock) and it's as expected very barren with a few large rocks(Red in Colour). The flight in was OK we had a fully automated check-in including printing out our own luggage labels which took a while to sort out but got there in the end. Unfortunatly we had all seen the in-flight movie so it was back to basics; Reading, Listening to music or Sleeping. By the time we had our lunch snack and drinks we started to descend into Uluru Airport, which as you can imagine isn't very big. Although a plus side is that we got an ariel view of the rock and The Olgas We recovered our luggage from the trailor out the front of the airport as the only baggage claim machine was being used for departures!!!
We then had a short bus ride to the Ayers Rock Resort which is a large set up consisting of 3 Hotels, apartments, lodges and camping pitches. As you can imagine the the standards vary, as do the costs. We have opted to go for the med to low price range with a lodge in the campground with Air-Con(Thank God-Temp on arrival 42 Degrees) which like most things looks a lot better on the internet when we booked it. Basic with 2 lots of bunks and a double with kitchenette/diner seperating them. Toilets and showers are the camp ground communial ones which are thankfully very clean with all you needs bearing in mind we are in the middle of knowhere.
We have 4 pools on this resort of which we can use 2 because they don't want the low life upsetting the rich japanese and chinese big spenders but they are both great and open till late. Well we are off to book a trip to see Kata Tjuta (The Olgas) and Uluru followed by a little grocery shop at the well stocked supermarket. Once that is done we are going to cool off in the incredibly warm pool and get some food.
Well that's all for today hopefully stunning pictures and more waffle from me tomorrow.
G'Day all
